From 7 to 9 May 2012 the Food Packaging Technologies Summit will be held in Chicago – a professional event for the food packaging industry. Also featured here will be the SAVE FOOD Initiative presenting its commitment to more food safety and food supply safety.
The Food Packaging Technologies Summit had an ambitious goal: The conference was to bridge the gap between new technologies and critical issues that will be facing the packaging industry and its customers over the next few years.
SAVE FOOD is tackling the challenges
The issues of food waste and global food security will definitely be among those challenges. The joint SAVE FOOD initiative of Messe Düsseldorf and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) focuses on this issue on an international scale and is seeking to show, among other thing, that the packaging industry can make a vital contribution to food safety, food sustainability and thus also food security.
The SAVE FOOD initiative is delivering some important stimuli and ideas for stakeholders in the packaging and food industries – an aspect which will be presented in Chicago by Bernd Jablonowksi, who is responsible for the interpack exhibitions of Messe Düsseldorf. In his talk “SAVE FOOD and Preventing Food Waste: A Call for Action” he will show very clearly that worldwide food security and a changing global economy will also lead to major changes for the packaging industry and for its suppliers and customer.
